Members of our Zero Waste team, like Jacob, collect beverage containers from Sunnyvale businesses each week. On average, we collect about 30,000 pounds of beverage containers each month.

This staggering number has left a lasting impact on Jacob. He states, "I think it shows how important it is if everybody were to take a step back and really think about what they can and can't recycle; we would have a lot less in our landfills."

Jacob adds, "Just seeing the sheer amount of material we collect daily...it just blows my mind."

Jacob shares his Corps Story, detailing his experience as a level two Crew Specialist. He also shares about his specialization in providing free glass recycling services to the City of Sunnyvale.

One of the many skills Jacob feels he has gained is confidence. He shares that he has "gained a lot of confidence in [his] abilities to get the job done." He sites working with the community directly as being his favorite part of the work.

Jacob finds that the Corps has opened the door to potential career pathways. "Ever since the Conservation Corps, I've gotten a lot more experience with the things I want to do in life."
